Summer  is Coming

Disneyland.

We enjoyed one last visit to Disneyland before the summer crowds. Abby had a good time visiting her favorite honey pots.

Splash Mountain soaked!

Eloise was thrilled Splash Mt was open again. Through the magic of child-switch passes, she got to go twice. Which worked out well, because Dad said she didn't get wet enough the first time.

Minnie's House.

The girls love visiting the character houses in Toontown, especially Minnie's house.

Mickey Mouse

Abby adores Mickey Mouse. Our Disney tip of the month... if you want a nice visit with Mickey, try to be last in line just before Toontown closes for the fireworks.

Abby and Mickey.

I never did get a picute with Abby looking at me. She was 100% focused on Mickey.

Sleeping bridge

I can't even remeber when I had the back -muscle strength to sleep like this.

Backyard games

Eloise is learning how to play badminton this summer. Usually, we make her use the slide as a net. This day we were indulgent and set it up.

Summer sprinklers.

We have several fun kid sprinklers, but the favorite is the cheap sprinkler I bought to help water while we completed some post-tree-removal repairs.

First day of summer.

Here are the shrieking, giggly girls of summer.

Sweet Abby.

We take pictures like this so we can pretend she is not 100% crazy destructo-girl.

Sghetti!

Abby has developed a love for all things tomato sauce. She will eat ketchup with a spoon, and now enjoys sauce on her spaghetti. We never got pictures like this with Eloise. She was much older before she liked any tomato product.

Beach day!

We enjoyed a family trip to the beach. It was lovely weather, just warm enough that the water was pleasant, but not at all hot. Abby worked on burying her legs with sand.

Fun out of the surf.

Abby's next favorite activity was sifting through the shell fragments on the beach.

In the waves.

While Abby played in the sand, Eloise headed straight for the water.

Sand castle.

Abby was impressed when the waves came up to our sand castle.

Picnic break.

We visited the Laguna Beach area this trip, and stopped at a couple different beaches. We had a nice picnic break in between.

Fun in the surf.

We visited our second beach just as high tide was peaking, and the waves were impressive. Eloise had a great time running from them as the breaked and dancing in them as they retreated.

Here comes a big one!

Shoo waves!

Abby was wary of the big waves and stuck by Dad. She laughed as the waves came in and told them, "ha ha, waves, you can't catch me."
